When Liam was little, someone told me that babies learn words slowly up until they know about forty or fifty, then, all of a sudden, they start picking up new words at a huge rate: a word explosion. Olivia now knows a bunch of words, but not too many, so I decided to write them down. Here they are (for the grandparents):
Oh oh, gook [milk], ear, eye, nose, me, Mommy, Daddy, Fuzzy, mo [no!], Papa, kay, deritis [there it is!], hi, bye, be [beep], ba [bath], cookie, ook [book], hair, baby, mine, orry [sorry], boo boo, ucky, moo, oooww [meow], oof [woof], ducky, hat, hot, nana [banana], ba [ball], uck [stuck], yummy, whee, poo, pee, oops, ewww, gen [again], go, yay!
Forty-four. Unfortunately, the girl's first two-word phrase was an enthusiastic, "Bye poo!" which is now repeated every time a toilet flushes in our household. Other popular phrases are, "No Mommy, no!" and, well, anything with "Mine!" in it.
Loved the vocabulary. Thanks! The photos of Olivia are darling. She's a beautiful child. her brother is handsome, tell him I said so.
So glad you had a nice anniversary. I didn't forget just so busy my calendar wasn't turned so I didn't know what day it was!
Love, Bobby

I wish I had kept more lists like that when Connor was learning to talk. Now he says EVERYTHING...especially the things I say that I don't want him to say!
