It's been a quiet week, actually. Busy, but not much to report. Here are the highlights:
There was one randomly warm day of the sort that we sometimes get in Colorado and we spent that afternoon at the park. On the way there Liam asked me, "Mommy, don't call me cutie-butt at the park, please." Turns out there's a few things he'd rather I didn't call him.
Not okay: cutie-butt, sweetie-butt, love buns.
Still okay: darlin', honey-bunny, hun-bun, lovey boy, sweetie-love, sweetie pie, huninny buninny (don't ask).
"No butt names, Mommy." I guess I can live with that.
I went to see The Other Boleyn Girl, which was...fine. It didn't exactly follow the book, and it didn't exactly follow history, but the costumes were fun to see.
I got a haircut.
I'm not sure if I look sweet there (which would be a bit odd) or brain-dead (which would be all too common). I guess Mark likes it (uh, the haircut), because he insisted on taking a picture the moment I walked through the door. Also, that isn't just a shadow making a stripe across my head; I was supposed to get my highlights redone, but the salon messed up and didn't allot enough time for it and I have to go back. Quite the commitment, highlights are; I'm not sure I care enough to be touched up every six weeks.
And in knitting news, Kite is coming along.
I'm halfway up one sleeve, so I hope to have this done by Monday. I'm going to like it, I think, except if I were to do it again I'd extend the lacey bits up a couple of inches to make more of an empire waist. Right now it cuts right through the middle of the sweater, which looks unbalanced to me for some reason. Oh, and if you look closely, you'll see the orange marker across the front courtesy of Olivia. I guess we'll find out how washable this is sooner rather than later.
That's all I got. I hope you all have exciting weekends (good exciting, not bad exciting).
Your Kite looks beautiful. Love the color too. If I were to knit that pattern again I would have added 12 extra rows to the body to make it longer for my daughter.

Great hair cut..and isn't that sweet that Mark took a picture of your new look!
I also have little patience for highlights so book the appointment as close to the salon's closing time as they allow to minimize unnecessary delays.
Your kite looks wonderful.
Love,
Judy

Your hair looks great. I wouldn't even bother with the highlights! I am saving up my shaggy scrappy hair for my end-of-April cut. It seems like years away at this point.
I love the Kite. I also love that Olivia has marked it already. It reminds me of the quilt I made Beah. I presented it to her with the utmost importance and foolishly walked away. Two minutes later she had the markers out, and she was colouring. It eventually washed out. I believe I may have called her a 'butt' nickname. :)

Cute hair! I love haircuts, mine or other peoples. :) The Kite is gorgeous, even with an extra little colorwork. Olivia is an artist just like both of mine, I see ...

Your hair looks great! You're right highlights are a big commitment, a relationship I have been trying to break for 4 years now. :)
I agree about the lacey bits. Maybe it will improve with seaming and sleeves. The pink is gorgeous!

I love the haircut, and I'd definitely go with sweet, not brain dead, in the picture! :) It looks really cute on you!
I love the nicknames too. Our boys always seem to be on the same page. Connor asked me not to call him sweetie at school anymore. :(

Ooo - I love the color of Kite! It's so pretty and spring-y! Just perfect for getting us through the 6-8 inches we're supposedly going to get tomorrow (sigh).
That's okay - it'll melt on Tuesday. :D
PS - Love the haircut too!

Such a nice look Kath! I love the cut. And thank you for the emergency hand out. In one paragraph you illuminated the process of the pattern and it immediately made sense. You have a gift...love you

I don't seem to find time to use the computer. i don't have my own here and , as you know, neil is at this one all the time. Today was rainy and cool so I pushed him out of the room and stole the computer. I love your hair! You just need to smile for the next photo. Miss the kids. Love, Mary

I like the haircut...and I don't know if it's just the picture or if I've just never noticed it before but you have gorgeous eyes :)

Cute haircut! Going to the salon every 6 weeks seems like a lot of maintenance -- since my hair is blond already, I stretch out the time between my highlighting sessions as long as possible.
The sweater looks great so far, and good luck getting the marker out.

Snort. Those are all really interesting -- to me, at least. I have to hear about the coloring thing. Every once in a while I think -- would it be so bad?
The marker cracks me up, as does the conversation about nicknames. "Bean" has been banned in our house, but I can apparently still call them names regarding their butts. You just crack me up.
