Like, a real bunny.
Isn't he/she adorable? He fell into our window well. This happens from time to time and usually we don't notice until, well....until it is too late. But today I found this little guy alive and trying to jump his way to freedom. It seriously was breaking my heart to see him try again and again to get out of this four-ish foot deep hole, so I quickly took a picture and scooped him up and placed him out by our back deck, under which he lives with his mom (I'm pretty sure).
Now I had heard that rabbits can make some god-awful noises when scared, but now I have first-hand experience with it: all I could think was, "Put this bunny down NOW." Those little high-pitched squeaks bore right into your skull. I was actually worried he'd have a little heart-attack in my hands (or pee), but he didn't, but now that he's safe I'm concerned that his mother will sniff him, think that's a people, and not let him into the burrow.
In other news, Liam and I both survived his first day of kindergarten. While some of the other kids came flying out, leaping into their parents' arms, Liam played it cool and greeted me with a bored, "Hi, Mom." The day was "good," but "nothing" happened. I did get down to some very specific questions, but I still don't feel like I got any real information. He does want to go back (and is there right now AND Olivia is sleeping!), but proposed a pattern: one day on, one day off. He said that to go every day would be too much of the same thing. Does anyone care to interpret that for me? Sheesh.
Before the bunny appeared, I thought I'd catch you up on my unexciting knitting, so here's a bit. I honestly haven't done anything noteworthy for the last few months, except for maybe this scarf:
It's a Breast Cancer Awareness Scarf for, appropriately, the Breast Cancer walk that my friend Lisa and I do every year. Last year I boldly swore to knit something pink to wear this year, and the time has come to put my money where my mouth is. This is knit from Classic Elite Bam Boo; I'd never knit with bamboo before and it is the softest stuff. I'm going to try to eek out three scarves from four balls of the stuff because my kitchen scale tells me it's possible.
And I've made a bunch of minis too.
Why? I donno; someone said swap, plus they only take about an hour to do. And they're cute and use up yarn leftovers. Actually, much of my knitting energy lately has gone into various swaps, but that's another post.
And that's about it, really. Right now I'm working away on poor neglected Poppy (there's a picture about half-way down here), and am just piecing together a second Franken-sleeve, which always seems to happen when I work with Noro. Here's a shot of the first, which I am attempting to match on the second, even though the whole point of this sweater is to let go of matchy-matchiness and just let the stitches flow.
Clearly, that isn't my forte. I have been craving some very strange things (for me), however: lace (!), mohair (!!), mohairy lace (!!!). I've even bought some thin fuzzy yarn, which I'll show off next time, as this post has gone on already and I need to soak up a bit of the the silence in my house.
Wow. Excuse me while I go revel in it.
That bunny is so cute. Beware the Momma though - they can be protective in a way you just don't expect from a bunny for the love of pete. :)
Minis are so fun! Love the sock - don't they have a key ring with mini sock blockers on them?

Well, that's a good deed for the day.
I like the way Liam thinks, of course. My kids couldn't do an every day thing without some damage to something or someone.
Nice lace. Must be all the quiet.

Whew. He survived the first day and so did you. There is hope for Connor and I. :)
I love Seascape! And I love the pink scarf. The bunnies, not so much. Cute, but they freak me out for some reason.

Glad the bunny was rescued!
Liam sounds more like his dad everyday. School every other day!
I'm sure day two was not a repeat of day one - at least we hope not.
Love, Mary

Congrats on making it to the first day of Kindergarten! I'm sure it blows your mind that your little baby is suddenly old enough for that sort of thing. Wow. I'm excited for your "me" time, yay! And I love the colorway you chose for Poppy. That's a design I've had an eye on but wasn't sure how it would look on me. So I'll live vicariously through you instead. :)

Oh, what a sweet little bunny! My parents' window wells are bunny traps, too.
Gorgeous scarf, and congrats to Liam on surviving the big day.

Yeah. Our dog cornered a rabbit once and I couldn't believe the noise they can make. I'm glad yours got rescued, though! (I have no idea what happened to the dog's. I'm just assuming it got away and is living a perfectly happy bunny life somewhere with lots and lots of babies.)
The Poppy looks beautiful. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Glad you posted...cause I replied to the comment you left me forgetting that your email address isn't saved. I sent a long email about how I miss pictures of the kids and how you shouldn't be impressed by my high score on GH because I should have done something productive with my time instead to TYPEPAD. Oops. Oh well.
Glad you're doing well and survived the move :)
